The natural world and its beauty have always been a big part of my life, art included, starting out in photography using my old 35 mm camera. Designing compositions with the camera and working in the darkroom became a passion and a possible career. Then, the "starving artist" comments sunk in.
My degrees are an AA in music, a BS, and an MA in math education, all applied to teaching High school and JC, including my love for teaching, for over 37 years before retiring. Since that time, the love of painting has taken over my world. I have spent and continue to spend hours carefully creating compositions of expressive images from my time walking, hiking, and traveling that lean towards a painterly fashion with an impressionistic flair, and many painted on location plein air. I love creating pieces that draw attention and imagination to tell a story. I believe I was always destined to become an artist, and I am so grateful that I have found my greatest passion.
I have been honored to show my work in local, national, and international juried shows, earning several reward recognitions to boot! My greatest reward, of course, is when others find pleasure in my work. It’s most gratifying when someone appreciates my art enough to want to hang it in their home.
