Impressionistic, Realistic, and Painterly Artist

Beginnings

I grew up on the east coast and moved to the west in the 1980s, enjoying the weather, the outdoors, and, best of all, meeting my wonderful husband. Between the two of us, we have two beautiful daughters, son-in-law, and three grandchildren. The natural world and its beauty consume a big part of my life, including organic gardening, hiking, dancing, piano, and camping to name a few. Art has always been a passion of mine, and the love of painting has taken over my world. To be able to travel, no matter how close or far, and document so many wonderful places make life more than I could ever have imagined.

I have an AA degree in music, a BS and MA in math education, and have taught high school and JC for over 37 years before retiring. Since then, I have spent boundless loving hours at the easel, inspired by so many magnificent places. Living in Benicia, CA, a wonderful art community, has been the best ever. I have also been honored to show my work in local and national jury shows, earning reward recognitions to boot!

Here go's....

As tough as it is to show my very first painting, here it is. It has been difficult not to redo or completely paint over this one, but I have kept it “as is” to measure the progression of my work. It was painted at my very first Wine-and-Canvas session with some friends. It didn’t take long to become obsessed (almost) in trying to learn as much as possible and improve my skills by taking numerous classes, researching past and present artists' works, books, videos, working with other artists … you name it. There is so much information and help out there to improve skills and techniques. Life is so amazing, and I am so thankful to be able to continue learning, making great new friends, and grow. And what better way to continue … explore and paint what you love!
